Introduction

Cambodia – Vietnam Insurance Plc (CVI) was established based on the strategy of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) to develop its insurance business across the Indochina market (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia). CVI was incorporated in Cambodia in July 2009 and licensed as an approved general insurer in September 2009 under the Insurance Law of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

CVI’s biggest shareholder is Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia, which is 100% owned by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV).

BIDV is the largest commercial bank in Vietnam in terms of total assets (approximately USD100.8 billion as of June 2024). BIDV, within its group, encompasses banking and insurance businesses in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

CVI’s following shareholder includes Diamond Island Development Co., Ltd, which is owned by Canadia Investment Holding, one of the largest financial groups in Cambodia with its main business in banking, insurance, securities and real estate development.
